WELCOME

MANY have asked me to explain why I choose MATTE-CAMP as the name of my future business. It's not all too complicated, really. When I wanted to open my own men's clothing store I sought out the name CAMP through research on 1940's slang. By slang definition, CAMP refers to a well-dressed, effeminate man; to pose in an exaggerated fashion. Instantly I couldn't get this word out of my head. I loved it. It described my target market to a tee. But it still wasn't enough to let this word stand alone.

One day, simply enough, I was painting my nails a matte black. I was curious about the word MATTE, so I looked it up. Well...

A matte painting is a painted representation of a landscape, set, or distant location that allows filmmakers to create the illusion of an environment that would otherwise be too expensive or impossible to build or visit.

Perfect. In terms of fashion, it's exactly what my products will stand for. Basically, I'm talented in the area of making something that's not expensive look like a million bucks. We all can't afford to shop all the time, but I sure can make it look like you do. I do it all the time!

So Voila! I fused my two new favorite words together, inspiring MATTE-CAMP. It's been a long process so naturally the direction for the co. has flipped and turned a few times, but it is my pleasure to say that the company will soon be an online young women's clothing site. For now, this blog will be devoted to displaying the lifestyle of what inspires MATTE-CAMP. Everything from art and fashion to cookbooks and random-ness. So please follow, comment, share, post, and visit frequently in order to spread the word and get fashion followers excited for my site, MATTE-CAMP.COM.

love.
